Reumo

We currently live in a context of changes in scale and speed greater than those we faced in the past, this phenomenon is called “The fourth industrial revolution” (SCHWAB, 2017). The main objective of this revolution is to meet the futuristic demands of the industry and, for this, new technologies are the central engine of the revolution (HALEEM; JAVAID, 2019). One of this technologies and focus of this article is additive manufacturing. This research aims to better understand the structure and evolution of the literature on the intersection between AM and Management.
Given the general lack of knowledge about technology and how it relates to the theme of management, this research aims to better understand the structure and evolution of the literature on the intersection between AM and Management. To achieve the objective two research questions were proposed: RQ1: what is the overview of the evolution of the literature in the intersection of additive manufacturing and management? RQ2: which are the emerging topics on the intersection between management and additive manufacturing?
Additive manufacturing is the layered printing of a model made in digital software (Computer aided design - 3D CAD) where it is possible to observe a great simplification of the product production process (Gibson 2017). The technology is still under development (Gibson 2017; Haleem and Javaid 2019), but some researches have already started to appear in the field of management, bringing to the discussion the impact of these new technologies in the present time and, mainly, for the future (Khorram Niaki and Nonino 2017).
The results and discussion was divided on two steps. The first one discussed more general aspects regarding the selected sample and, later, emerging topics were identified. Looking into these finds it's possible to infer that the theme is new and researchers have space to develop to carry out research on various topics that emerge from the intersection between additive manufacturing and management.
As previously proposed, this work aimed to investigate the state of the art in the literature on the intersection between additive manufacturing and management. A total of 409 articles extracted from WoS that discussed the proposed theme were analyzed. Through bibliometric analysis, it was possible to identify the evolution of the literature in the area, the most important journals, the countries with the highest productivity and the most important articles.
