Resumo

O caso

This article introduces the concept of frugal innovation to develop affordable, efficient, and locally adapted healthcare solutions. It presents five real-world cases: NIC Nepal (R&D), MScan Uganda (ultrasound device), Rology Egypt (teleradiology service), Boda Girls Kenya (women-led transport and care), and HealthX Africa (telehealth platform). Each initiative addresses healthcare gaps in resource-limited settings using low-cost, high-impact strategies. The cases were collected and developed through the Frugal4Health.org platform, which documents global frugal healthcare innovations.

Objetivo de ensino

To explore various healthcare ventures originating from resource-constrained settings through the lens of frugality.

Fontes e Métodos de coleta

The information was collected through semi-structured interviews conducted with each of the project leaders, as shown in the videos. Beyond the interviews, additional data was gathered from official websites and published articles related to the projects.
