Resumo
Introdução
The alignment between entrepreneurial orientation, organizational culture, and open innovation has gained prominence for its role in driving value creation and firm performance. However, the literature remains inconclusive regarding how these dimensions interact.
Problema de Pesquisa e Objetivo
In this context, this study aimed to analyze the academic landscape concerning the relationship between Open Innovation, Entrepreneurial Orientation, and Organizational Culture, identifying key trends and research opportunities to better understand how these factors interact to enhance innovation and firm performance.
Fundamentação Teórica
The study is grounded in theories of Open Innovation (Chesbrough, 2003), Entrepreneurial Orientation (Lumpkin & Dess, 2001), and Organizational Culture (Schein, 1984) for exploring how EO and OC act as enablers of OI strategies and influence firm performance. Culture is seen as dynamic and interactive with EO, shaping knowledge flows and innovation capabilities. The review highlights how strategic and cultural orientations jointly foster innovation and performance outcomes.
Discussão
The systematic review of 330 articles revealed five thematic clusters: (1) innovation management and organizational culture, (2) open innovation capabilities and performance, (3) business model innovation, (4) entrepreneurial orientation and dynamic capabilities, and (5) human capital and product-service innovation. Co-citation and co-occurrence analyses identified key authors, journals, and methods, showing a strong empirical focus on knowledge, culture, and strategy linkages.
Conclusão
This study confirms the relevance of aligning entrepreneurial orientation and organizational culture to support open innovation strategies and improve firm performance. Cultural and strategic capabilities interact to enhance knowledge integration, adaptability, and innovation outcomes. The systematic review reveals consistent trends and highlights underexplored areas, offering insights for both researchers and managers on leveraging internal capabilities for innovation success.
Contribuição / Impacto
This study contributes by offering a multidimensional synthesis of the literature connecting open innovation, entrepreneurial orientation, and organizational culture. It advances theoretical understanding by identifying their joint influence on innovation and firm performance. Methodologically, it combines bibliometric and lexicographic techniques. Practically, it supports managers in aligning culture and strategy to foster open innovation and competitiveness in dynamic contexts.
